Hiring.zycto is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as Flag Persons, specifically working around the College Streetcar lines and other urban construction sites in Toronto. No prior experience is required – we are committed to providing comprehensive training to ensure you are fully equipped and confident in your role.

As a Flag Person, you will play a crucial role in maintaining safety for both the public and our work crews. Your primary responsibility will be to direct traffic, pedestrians, and streetcar operations around construction zones, ensuring smooth flow and preventing accidents. This is an essential position that requires constant vigilance, clear communication, and a strong commitment to safety protocols. You’ll be the eyes and ears on the ground, making critical decisions in fast-paced environments.

This role offers a fantastic entry point into the construction and traffic management industry. You will receive hands-on training covering all aspects of traffic control, including proper flagging techniques, understanding road safety regulations, effective communication strategies, and emergency procedures. Key Responsibilities

  • Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic safely around construction and streetcar operating zones using hand signals and flags.
  • Communicate effectively with construction crews, streetcar operators, and the public to ensure smooth operations.
  • Set up and maintain temporary traffic control devices, including signs, cones, and barricades.
  • Monitor traffic flow and adjust flagging procedures as necessary to respond to changing conditions.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Report any safety hazards, incidents, or concerns to supervisors immediately.
  • Provide clear, concise, and courteous instructions to drivers and pedestrians.
  • Maintain a professional and alert presence at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure a cohesive and safe work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class G Driver's License (G2 accepted) with a clean driving record.
  • Completion of an accredited Traffic Control Person (TCP) course (we can assist with certification if needed).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • WHMIS certification.
