Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Systems Administrator to join our growing IT team in Toronto. As a Junior Systems Administrator, you will play a crucial role in supporting our IT infrastructure, ensuring its smooth operation and reliability. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and applications.
  • Monitor system performance, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
  • Perform routine system backups, restores, and data recovery procedures.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights across various systems.
  • Document IT procedures, configurations, and incidents for knowledge base improvement.
  • Participate in the deployment and patching of servers and workstations.
  • Collaborate with senior IT staff on larger projects and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to IT security policies and protocols.
  • Support network infrastructure components, including switches, routers, and firewalls, under supervision.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of initiative and a strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar productivity tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, IT Fundamentals).
  • Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
