Hiring.zycto is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Part-Time Lactation Consultant to join our dedicated team in Waterfront Communities-Island, Toronto. This vital role involves providing expert breastfeeding support, education, and guidance to new and expectant parents, ensuring a positive and successful feeding experience for both mother and baby. As a Lactation Consultant, you will play a critical role in supporting families through one of life’s most intimate and sometimes challenging transitions. You will be responsible for conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized feeding plans, and offering practical, evidence-based solutions to common breastfeeding issues.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive breastfeeding assessments and consultations for new and expectant parents.
- Develop and implement individualized feeding plans based on client needs and evidence-based practices.
- Educate parents on proper latch, positioning, milk supply, pumping techniques, and storage.
- Address and provide solutions for common and complex breastfeeding challenges such as latch difficulties, pain, low milk supply, and mastitis.
- Offer compassionate emotional support and encouragement to families throughout their breastfeeding journey.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals (pediatricians, obstetricians, nurses) to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Stay current with the latest research, best practices, and guidelines in lactation consulting.
- Facilitate group education sessions or workshops for parents on various breastfeeding topics as needed.
Required Skills
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification in good standing.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience providing direct lactation support to mothers and infants.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate and confidential client records.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, or a related healthcare field.
- Experience working in a hospital, clinic, or private practice setting.
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to the diverse Toronto community (e.g., Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Tagalog).
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
