Hiring.zycto is actively seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Part-Time Pool Lifeguards in Newport. We will provide full, comprehensive training for the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), which is the industry standard certification required for this role. As a Pool Lifeguard, you will be the vigilant eyes and ears of our aquatic facility, ensuring a secure environment for all swimmers. Your main priority will be the safety of our patrons, but you’ll also play a key role in providing excellent customer service, enforcing pool rules, and contributing to the overall positive atmosphere of our centre. This role requires attentiveness, quick thinking, and the ability to act calmly and decisively in emergency situations. Key Responsibilities

  • Actively supervise pool users to ensure their safety and prevent accidents.
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations fairly and consistently.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, performing rescues and providing first aid and CPR as necessary.
  • Conduct regular safety checks of the pool area, equipment, and surrounding facilities.
  • Assist with the setup and take-down of pool equipment for various activities and classes.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe poolside environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and offering assistance to patrons.
  • Attend all required training sessions, including NPLQ revalidations, and maintain current certifications.
  • Report any incidents, hazards, or equipment malfunctions to management immediately.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth operation of the facility.

Required Skills

  • Strong swimming ability and physical fitness to meet NPLQ standards.
  • Excellent observation and concentration skills to maintain constant vigilance.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and decisive under pressure.
  • Reliable, responsible, and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and commit to ongoing training.
  • Must be able to successfully undertake and pass the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) upon employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service or public-facing role (beneficial but not essential).
  • Basic knowledge of first aid principles (full training will be provided).
  • A genuine passion for water safety, health, and fitness.
  • Enthusiasm for working as part of a dedicated team.
