Key Responsibilities
- Create high-quality 2D and/or 3D animations for various platforms and projects, adhering to artistic and technical specifications.
- Work collaboratively with art directors, game designers, and other animators to conceptualize and execute animation sequences.
- Develop character rigs and animate characters, creatures, and objects with a strong emphasis on believable movement, weight, and emotion.
- Implement animation into game engines or production pipelines, ensuring optimal performance and visual fidelity.
- Iterate on animations based on feedback, maintaining a high level of quality and consistency throughout the production cycle.
- Manage and organize animation files, ensuring proper naming conventions and version control.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, software, and best practices in animation.
- Contribute to the development of animation style guides and technical standards.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in industry-standard animation software (e.g., Maya, Blender, Toon Boom Harmony, After Effects, Unity, Unreal Engine).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of animation styles, technical skills, and storytelling ability.
- Excellent understanding of animation principles (timing, spacing, weight, anticipation, follow-through, etc.).
- Ability to animate realistic and stylized characters, objects, and visual effects.
- Solid understanding of rigging and skinning principles.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills in a remote work setting.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Animation, Digital Media, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- Experience with motion capture data cleanup and integration.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, MEL) for animation tool development.
- Experience working on shipped titles in gaming or published animated content.
- Knowledge of various art styles and the ability to adapt to new aesthetic directions quickly.
