Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for assigned categories to achieve cost savings and supply chain efficiencies.
  • Manage the full procurement lifecycle, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, contract administration, and performance monitoring.
  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify new suppliers, products, and industry trends.
  • Negotiate favorable terms, conditions, and pricing with suppliers while upholding high-quality standards and ethical practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, finance, engineering, legal) to understand requirements and ensure alignment on procurement strategies.
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolve any issues or disputes, and foster strong, collaborative relationships built on trust and mutual benefit.
  • Ensure strict compliance with company policies, procedures, and all relevant regulatory requirements, including those for international trade where applicable.
  • Identify and proactively implement process improvements and technological advancements within the procurement function to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prepare and present regular, insightful reports on procurement activities, achieved savings, supplier performance metrics, and market forecasts.
  • Contribute significantly to risk management activities related to the supply chain and procurement, mitigating potential disruptions and ensuring business continuity.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing overall operational efficiency, sustainability, and strategic company goals.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in a dedicated procurement or supply chain role.
  • Demonstrable strong negotiation and contract management skills with a track record of achieving favorable outcomes.
  • Practical experience with e-procurement systems and tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain principles, procurement best practices, and category management.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Economics, or a closely related field.
  • CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) qualification (e.g., Diploma, Advanced Diploma) or actively working towards it.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP Ariba, Oracle, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Scottish and UK public or private sector procurement regulations and legal frameworks.
  • Previous experience in a technology, manufacturing, or service-based industry.
