Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking experienced and dedicated Asphalt Pavers for the upcoming construction season in Toronto, specifically around the vibrant Withrow Park area. As a Seasonal Asphalt Paver, you will be a vital part of our crew, responsible for operating asphalt paving equipment to lay, spread, and compact asphalt mixes according to specifications. Key Responsibilities
- Operate asphalt paving machines, including pavers and rollers, to lay and compact asphalt mixtures.
- Monitor paver operations, material flow, and paving speed to ensure consistent mat thickness and width.
- Adjust screed depth and grade controls to meet project specifications and achieve desired slopes.
- Perform routine maintenance and pre-operation checks on equipment to ensure safe and efficient functioning.
- Communicate effectively with ground crew, screed operators, and site supervisors.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as provincial regulations.
- Assist with manual tasks such as raking, shoveling, and preparing surfaces for paving.
- Ensure the quality of the paved surface meets or exceeds industry standards.
- Work collaboratively with the construction team to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
Required Skills
- Proven experience operating asphalt paving equipment (pavers, rollers).
- Strong understanding of asphalt laying techniques and compaction processes.
- Ability to read and interpret grades, plans, and specifications.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Commitment to workplace safety and understanding of WHMIS.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in demanding outdoor environments.
- Valid G Class Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Heavy Equipment Operator certification.
- Experience with various types of asphalt mixes and paving methods.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- DZ or AZ Driver's License is an asset.
- Experience working on municipal infrastructure projects.
