Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate cost accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, material, and overhead, to identify variances and trends.
  • Prepare detailed cost reports, profitability analyses, and inventory valuations.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to understand cost drivers and identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts for manufacturing costs.
  • Conduct month-end closing activities related to inventory and cost of goods sold.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies, performing regular audits as needed.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and cost accounting standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional designation.
  • Experience with activity-based costing and standard costing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
