Job Description
The “Astronomer – Research” at Hiring.zycto will lead and contribute to pivotal projects exploring the deepest questions of the cosmos. Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and execute independent and collaborative astronomical research projects.
- Analyze complex observational data from various telescopes (e.g., HST, JWST, ALMA, VLT) using advanced statistical and computational methods.
- Develop and refine theoretical models to explain observed phenomena and predict new discoveries.
- Prepare and publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
- Present research results at national and international conferences and seminars.
- Contribute to grant proposals and secure external funding for research initiatives.
- Mentor junior researchers, postdocs, or graduate students (if applicable).
- Participate in departmental seminars, colloquia, and outreach activities.

Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, or a closely related field.

- Proficiency in scientific programming languages (e.g., Python, IDL, C++).
- Extensive experience with astronomical data analysis software packages (e.g., Astropy, IRAF, CASA).
- Strong understanding of statistical methods and their application to large datasets.
- Expertise in at least one major area of astrophysical research (e.g., cosmology, exoplanets, stellar evolution, galaxy dynamics).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for scientific reporting and presentations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
