Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive audiological evaluations, including pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, immittance, otoacoustic emissions (OAEs), and auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing.
- Interpret audiological test results to diagnose hearing loss and related auditory disorders.
- Recommend, select, fit, and program advanced hearing aids and other assistive listening devices, ensuring optimal patient benefit.
- Provide thorough counseling to patients and their families regarding hearing loss, treatment options, hearing aid care, and communication strategies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
- Stay current with advancements in audiological technology, best practices, and relevant research through continuous professional development.
- Educate patients on hearing conservation and the prevention of noise-induced hearing loss.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on hearing aids and related equipment.
- Participate in clinic meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Master's or Doctorate (Au.D.) in Audiology from an accredited university program.
- Current registration and in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a practicing Audiologist.
- Demonstrated expertise in diagnostic audiology and hearing aid dispensing.
- Proficiency with audiological equipment, software, and electronic medical record systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient counseling skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specialized audiological assessments (e.g., vestibular testing, electrophysiology).
- Familiarity with multiple hearing aid manufacturer product lines and programming software.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics or geriatrics.
- Bilingualism (English and another language relevant to the Toronto population) is an asset.
