Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chemical Engineer to join our professional team in the vibrant Little Italy district of Toronto. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes and equipment.
- Conduct process simulations, material and energy balances, and economic evaluations.
- Perform root cause analysis for process deviations and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and implement process control strategies to ensure operational efficiency and product quality.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to scale up laboratory-developed processes to pilot and commercial production.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and operational staff.
- Participate in risk assessments and hazard operability (HAZOP) studies.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements for existing processes.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in chemical process engineering.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex chemical processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Solid understanding of relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario or eligibility for registration.
- Experience in specific industries such as pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, or food processing.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
- Knowledge of advanced process control (APC) systems.
