Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineer – Professional to join our dynamic team in Arbour Lake, Calgary. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be instrumental in the planning, design, and execution of a diverse range of civil infrastructure projects that shape communities and enhance public well-being. This role demands a professional with a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record in managing projects from conception through to successful completion, demonstrating leadership and technical acumen at every stage.
You will be responsible for leading design efforts, performing complex engineering calculations and analyses, preparing detailed technical specifications, and overseeing comprehensive project documentation. Our projects span critical areas including municipal infrastructure upgrades, large-scale land development, sustainable water resources management, and efficient transportation network planning. You will be expected to collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, engage effectively with clients, navigate complex interactions with regulatory bodies, and coordinate seamlessly with contractors. A core part of your responsibility will be ensuring all projects strictly adhere to safety standards, environmental regulations, local bylaws, and precise client specifications, while also managing project timelines and budgets to successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, analysis, and execution of complex civil engineering projects from conception to completion.
- Prepare comprehensive engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and calculations in accordance with industry standards.
- Conduct detailed feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments for infrastructure development.
- Perform advanced engineering calculations for grading, drainage, utility networks, road design, and other civil components.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant local, provincial, and federal regulations, codes, and environmental standards.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources efficiently to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and professional development support to junior engineering staff.
- Actively participate in the preparation of proposals, tenders, and business development initiatives.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and provide construction support services throughout project implementation.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta or eligible for immediate registration.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in civil engineering design and project management.
- Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other relevant engineering design software.
- Strong understanding of municipal infrastructure design principles, standards, and best practices.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines.
- Solid knowledge of Canadian building codes, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- Specialized experience in water resources management, transportation engineering, or land development projects.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a consulting engineering environment.
