Key Responsibilities
- Maintain security and order within the correctional facility, ensuring the safety of inmates, staff, and the public.
- Supervise inmates during daily activities, including meals, recreation, work assignments, and educational programs.
- Conduct regular security checks, searches, and inspections of cells, common areas, and inmate possessions to detect and deter contraband.
- Respond effectively and appropriately to emergencies, disturbances, and conflicts, employing de-escalation techniques and physical intervention when necessary.
- Prepare accurate and detailed reports, logs, and documentation regarding inmate behaviour, incidents, and daily activities.
- Enforce institutional rules, regulations, and policies consistently and fairly.
- Facilitate and monitor inmate movements within the facility, including escorts to various appointments, court appearances, and transfers.
- Provide guidance and support to inmates, promoting positive behaviour and participation in rehabilitative programs.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and other specialists to address inmate needs and facilitate case management.
- Operate and monitor security equipment, including surveillance systems, control panels, and communication devices.
Required Skills
