As a Crane Operator in training, you will initially work closely with experienced operators, learning the intricacies of various crane types, their controls, and critical safety protocols. Your journey will include theoretical instruction on load charts, rigging techniques, site safety regulations, and equipment maintenance, followed by practical application under expert supervision. Upon successful completion of your training and certification, you will be responsible for operating various types of mobile or stationary cranes to lift, move, position, and place materials and equipment on construction sites. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all provided crane operation and safety training programs.
- Learn to inspect cranes and rigging for mechanical and safety issues prior to operation.
- Under supervision, assist in the safe and efficient operation of various types of cranes.
- Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory standards (e.g., OHSA).
- Learn to interpret load charts and perform calculations to ensure safe lifting operations.
- Communicate effectively with ground crews and project managers using hand signals and radios.
- Assist with routine maintenance and cleaning of crane equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately to supervisors.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and practices.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn complex machinery.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely and work effectively in a team.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including climbing, lifting, and working at heights.
- Valid G Class driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a construction or industrial setting.

- First Aid and CPR certification.

- OSHA 10 or 30-hour construction safety certification (or equivalent).
