Hiring.zycto is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Remote VoIP Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our Voice over IP (VoIP) infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage robust VoIP systems and infrastructure using technologies like Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, or similar platforms.
- Monitor system performance, analyze traffic patterns, and proactively identify and resolve complex VoIP-related issues, including call quality, latency, and connectivity problems.
- Implement and maintain stringent security best practices for VoIP systems, including firewall rules, encryption, and authentication mechanisms to protect communication integrity.
- Configure and troubleshoot SIP trunks, gateways, softphones, and various other VoIP endpoints, ensuring seamless integration and operation.
- Collaborate closely with network engineers to optimize network configurations, implement Quality of Service (QoS), and manage VLANs for efficient voice traffic delivery.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system architecture, configurations, and operational procedures to ensure clarity and consistency.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical incidents, providing rapid response and resolution to ensure minimal downtime for essential communication services.
- Evaluate and recommend new VoIP technologies, tools, and solutions to continuously improve efficiency, scalability, and service offerings.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of professional experience as a VoIP Engineer or in a closely related role.
- Proficiency with SIP, RTP, SDP, and other essential VoIP protocols and their associated troubleshooting methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with open-source VoIP platforms such as Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, Kamailio, or OpenSIPS.
- Strong understanding of fundamental network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and critical network services (DNS, DHCP, NTP).
- Extensive experience with Linux operating systems (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu) for system administration and configuration.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills for complex voice and network issues.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fully remote work environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical documentation and team collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA Voice/Collaboration, CCNP Voice/Collaboration, or other relevant VoIP certifications.
- Experience with cloud-based VoIP solutions and platforms (e.g., AWS Chime, Microsoft Teams Voice, Google Cloud Call Center AI).
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of routine tasks and system management.
- Knowledge of WebRTC and real-time communication APIs for developing integrated solutions.
- Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana).
