Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior excavation contractors with various site preparation and excavation tasks.
- Operate and maintain a range of heavy equipment under direct supervision, including excavators, loaders, and compactors (once certified and deemed competent).
- Learn and strictly adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as provincial and federal regulations.
- Perform manual labour tasks such as digging, trenching, shoveling, and moving materials.
- Assist with the layout and grading of construction sites using hand tools and basic surveying equipment.
- Support the installation and repair of underground utilities, including water, sewer, and gas lines.
- Conduct daily equipment checks and assist with routine maintenance to ensure machinery is in safe working order.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project progress, challenges, and safety concerns.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

- Valid G Class Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Enrollment or interest in an accredited apprenticeship program for heavy equipment operation or a related trade.
- Basic first aid and CPR certification.
- WHMIS and Working at Heights certification.
