As a Fish Plant Worker, you will be an integral part of our processing operations, involved in various stages from receiving raw materials to the final packaging of seafood products. Your daily tasks will be performed in a temperature-controlled setting, ensuring product freshness and adherence to strict food safety standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform various tasks related to fish processing including gutting, filleting, trimming, and skinning.
  • Operate and maintain processing equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all operational guidelines.
  • Monitor product quality and ensure adherence to established standards throughout the processing stages.
  • Package finished products accurately according to specifications, ready for shipping and distribution.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, regularly sanitizing equipment and surfaces to meet hygiene standards.
  • Follow all food safety regulations, including HACCP and CFIA guidelines, and company policies rigorously.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist with the receiving, inspection, and proper storage of raw materials.
  • Participate actively in all required training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to support overall plant operations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a cold, damp, and fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for detailed processing tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to product quality and safety.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and comfortably perform repetitive tasks.
  • Basic understanding of food safety principles and hygiene practices.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors.
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift and move materials weighing up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong, consistent work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a fish processing plant or a similar food production environment.
  • Knowledge of various seafood species and their specific processing techniques.
  • Forklift certification (an asset for certain internal plant roles).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to communicate in multiple languages.
