Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated HVAC Contractor Apprentice to join our growing team in Toronto, specifically serving the vibrant Distillery Lane area and broader GTA. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals eager to launch a rewarding and hands-on career in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. As an Apprentice, you will be immersed in a dynamic learning environment, working directly alongside our seasoned Journeymen and skilled Technicians. You’ll gain invaluable hands-on experience across a diverse range of HVAC systems, including the installation, maintenance, and precise repair of furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, ventilation systems, and commercial refrigeration units. Your daily tasks will involve everything from assisting with complex system diagnostics to performing routine preventative maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency for our diverse client base. We are looking for someone with an unwavering work ethic, a meticulous eye for detail, and an absolute commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Journeyman HVAC Technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of various HVAC systems.
  • Learn to identify, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, including cleaning coils, changing filters, and checking refrigerant levels.
  • Handle and transport tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment on job sites and in company vehicles.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including work orders, service reports, and time sheets accurately.
  • Continuously learn and develop technical skills through on-the-job training and formal instruction.
  • Support inventory management by assisting with tracking parts and supplies.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in various physical conditions (e.g., confined spaces, heights, varying temperatures).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of tools and their safe operation.
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly motivated to learn and grow in the HVAC trade.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment or completion of a pre-apprenticeship HVAC program.
  • Previous experience in a related trade or construction environment.
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainable HVAC solutions and energy efficiency.
