Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Full-Time Immigration Lawyer to join our dedicated legal team in Thickwood, Fort McMurray. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive legal advice and representation to clients on all aspects of Canadian immigration law.
- Manage a diverse caseload, including temporary resident visas (visitors, students, workers), permanent residency applications (economic, family sponsorship, humanitarian & compassionate), refugee claims, and citizenship applications.
- Conduct in-depth client consultations to assess eligibility, gather necessary documentation, and develop effective immigration strategies.
- Prepare, review, and submit various immigration applications and legal submissions to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), and other relevant government bodies.
- Represent clients before the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB), Federal Court, and other tribunals as required.
- Stay abreast of changes in immigration legislation, policies, and case law, ensuring compliance and providing up-to-date advice.
- Effectively communicate complex legal information to clients in a clear, concise, and empathetic manner.
- Collaborate with paralegals and administrative staff to ensure efficient case management and client service.
- Maintain accurate and organized client files and ensure all deadlines are met.
Required Skills
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Active membership in good standing with a Canadian provincial or territorial bar (e.g., Law Society of Alberta).
- Minimum of 3 years of post-call experience practicing Canadian immigration law.
- Demonstrated expertise in a broad range of immigration applications and procedures.
- Exceptional legal research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently and meticulously.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach and high ethical standards.
- Proficiency in legal research software and standard office productivity tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in additional languages (e.g., Punjabi, Hindi, Arabic, Mandarin, Tagalog) relevant to Fort McMurray's diverse population.
- Experience with Federal Court litigation pertaining to immigration matters.
- Previous experience supervising junior lawyers or legal assistants.
- Familiarity with case management software specific to immigration law.
