Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking an exceptional and dynamic News Anchor to join our broadcast team in Toronto. Key Responsibilities

  • Anchor live and pre-recorded newscasts, special reports, and breaking news segments with professionalism and precision.
  • Deliver news stories clearly, accurately, and engagingly, maintaining an authoritative and trustworthy on-air presence.
  • Conduct live interviews with guests, experts, and community members, asking pertinent questions and facilitating insightful discussions.
  • Collaborate closely with producers, writers, and technical staff to review scripts, rundown orders, and visual elements, ensuring seamless broadcast production.
  • Research and analyze news stories, providing context and depth to reports for a diverse audience.
  • Ad-lib effectively and professionally during unforeseen circumstances, breaking news, or technical difficulties.
  • Participate in community events, public appearances, and station promotions as a representative of Hiring.zycto.
  • Contribute to content creation, including writing headlines, teases, and promotional materials for newscasts.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current events, local issues, and cultural sensitivities relevant to the Toronto audience.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a News Anchor or Broadcast Journalist in a professional news environment.
  • Exceptional verbal communication and storytelling abilities, with a clear, concise, and engaging delivery style.
  • Strong on-air presence, confidence, and the ability to maintain composure during live broadcasts and high-pressure situations.
  • Solid journalistic ethics, impeccable judgment, and a commitment to unbiased, accurate reporting.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and research skills, with the ability to quickly assimilate complex information and present it clearly.
  • Proficiency with teleprompter operation and broadcast equipment, including strong technical adaptability.
  • Demonstrated ability to ad-lib and improvise effectively on live television.
  • Understanding of the Toronto media landscape and local community issues.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as news cycles demand.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting, or a related field.
  • Experience with digital news platforms and social media for news dissemination.
  • Bilingualism (English and French or other relevant languages) is a significant asset.
  • Familiarity with newsroom software and content management systems.
  • A strong portfolio or reel showcasing anchoring experience and reporting capabilities.
