Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison and communication hub between the director, cast, design team, and technical crew.
  • Develop, distribute, and maintain comprehensive rehearsal and performance schedules, ensuring all parties are informed.
  • Accurately record and disseminate detailed blocking, prop notes, costume changes, and other critical show information in a prompt book.
  • Call all cues (lighting, sound, video, scenery, performer entrances) during performances with precision and timing.
  • Oversee the setup and strike of all scenic elements, props, and costumes for rehearsals and performances.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all cast and crew members, enforcing venue safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Manage and track theatrical assets, including props, costumes, and set pieces, throughout the production cycle.
  • Facilitate technical rehearsals, dry runs, and dress rehearsals, coordinating all technical departments.
  • Generate and distribute daily rehearsal and performance reports to relevant production personnel.
  • Anticipate and proactively resolve potential issues during rehearsals and performances, demonstrating quick thinking and decisive action.
  • Foster a positive and professional working environment, promoting respect and collaboration among all team members.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of proven professional experience as a Stage Manager in a theatre setting.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with acute attention to detail.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, fostering clear and concise dialogue.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting theatrical scripts, ground plans, and design documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain composure and make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Thorough understanding of theatrical safety standards and emergency procedures.
  • Working knowledge of basic technical theatre elements (lighting, sound, rigging, automation).
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a collaborative and empathetic approach.
  • Proficiency with scheduling software and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Theatre Arts, Production Management, or a related field.
  • Experience across a range of theatrical genres, including drama, comedy, and musical theatre.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Familiarity with production management software (e.g., Smartsheet, ArtsVision).
  • Experience mentoring Assistant Stage Managers or production interns.
