Hiring.zycto is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and enthusiastic Entry Level Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our dynamic team in the Comox Valley, Courtenay. In this role, you will work directly with clients across various age groups and with diverse needs, implementing therapeutic programs designed by a registered Occupational Therapist. Your day-to-day will involve hands-on patient interaction, guiding individuals through exercises, activities of daily living (ADL) training, and the use of adaptive equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Occupational Therapists in the implementation of individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and activities of daily living (ADL) training under supervision.
- Prepare treatment areas, materials, and equipment for therapy sessions.
- Observe and report on patient progress, responses, and challenges to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient activities and observations.
- Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs and the use of adaptive equipment.
- Ensure a safe and clean therapeutic environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
- Assist with administrative tasks as required to support the therapy department.
Required Skills
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) or Rehabilitation Assistant program.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and scheduling.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and assisting patients with mobility.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer or practicum experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting.
- Knowledge of various therapeutic techniques and adaptive equipment.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
