Key Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment areas, including setting up equipment and ensuring cleanliness and organization before, during, and after patient sessions.
- Assist Physical Therapists in direct patient care by guiding patients through prescribed exercises, stretches, and mobility drills.
- Monitor patients' responses to therapy and promptly report any changes, concerns, or adverse reactions to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Maintain all therapy equipment, ensuring it is clean, properly stored, and in good working order; report any maintenance needs.
- Assist patients with safe transfers, ambulation, and positioning, ensuring their comfort and security throughout their visit.
- Perform light administrative and clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, answering phones, and processing paperwork.
- Order and maintain inventory of clinic supplies and materials, ensuring adequate stock levels for daily operations.
- Adhere strictly to all clinic policies, procedures, and health regulations, including infection control protocols and patient confidentiality (HIPAA/PHIPA).
- Provide empathetic support and encouragement to patients, helping to foster a positive and motivating rehabilitation experience.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-first approach.
- Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic computer proficiency for administrative tasks and scheduling.
- Physical stamina to assist patients with mobility, stand for extended periods, and lift/move equipment as needed.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrollment in or completion of a related post-secondary program (e.g., Kinesiology, Health Sciences, Fitness & Health Promotion).
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Previous experience in a customer service, caregiving, or healthcare support role.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and basic anatomy.
