Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and parcels accurately and efficiently.
  • Process mail, ensuring proper postage, packaging, and addressing standards are met.
  • Assist customers with various postal services, including selling stamps, processing letters/packages, and providing information on postal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all mail processed and services rendered, utilizing internal systems.
  • Handle cash and process payments for postal services, adhering strictly to company financial procedures and security protocols.
  • Operate postal equipment such as scales, franking machines, and scanning devices, performing basic maintenance when necessary.
  • Ensure the work area is kept clean, organized, and compliant with all safety and health standards.
  • Report any discrepancies, issues with mail, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
  • Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service, resolving inquiries and complaints effectively and courteously.

Required Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to multitask.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Basic computer proficiency and comfort with data entry.
  • Ability to lift and move mail sacks and parcels (up to 25kg) regularly.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively and maintain composure in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • A strong customer service-oriented mindset and problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic numeracy skills for handling payments and calculating postage accurately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a postal, retail, administrative, or logistics role.
  • Knowledge of national and international postal regulations and services.
  • Experience with cash handling and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
