As a Siding Contractor Apprentice, you will work directly alongside experienced journeymen, gaining invaluable practical experience with various siding materials, techniques, and tools. Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead contractors and journeymen with the installation of various siding materials (vinyl, fiber cement, wood, metal).
- Perform site preparation tasks, including material loading, unloading, and organizing tools and equipment.
- Learn and practice safe handling and operation of hand tools and power tools relevant to siding installation.
- Measure, cut, and fit siding panels and trim accurately under supervision.
- Ensure adherence to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Help maintain a clean and organized work site, managing waste and debris efficiently.
- Assist with demolition and removal of old siding materials as required.
- Participate in daily team briefings and actively seek opportunities to learn and develop new skills.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
Required Skills
- Eagerness and willingness to learn a skilled trade.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety (or willingness to learn immediately).
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bend, stoop, climb ladders, and work at heights.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Must have own steel-toed boots.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Prior experience in any general labour or construction setting (even part-time).
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
