Job Description

Hiring.zycto is searching for a highly skilled and dedicated Tailor to join our bespoke team in Byres Road, Glasgow. As a Tailor with a flexible schedule, you will be instrumental in delivering exceptional quality and service. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring our clients’ garments not only fit flawlessly but also reflect the highest standards of sartorial excellence. You will work on a variety of garments, from everyday wear to formal attire, performing alterations, repairs, and potentially contributing to custom designs. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform precise alterations, repairs, and customisations on a wide range of garments, including suits, dresses, trousers, and coats.
  • Conduct client fittings with professionalism, offering expert advice on fit, style, and fabric care.
  • Utilise various sewing machines, hand-stitching techniques, and specialised equipment to achieve high-quality finishes.
  • Manage workflow efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining exceptional standards of craftsmanship.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment, including proper care and maintenance of equipment.
  • Accurately record client measurements, specifications, and job details.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure a cohesive and outstanding client experience.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new techniques, and fabric innovations.
  • Provide clear and concise communication to clients regarding timelines, costs, and garment care.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of professional tailoring or seamstress experience.
  • Proficiency in both machine and hand-sewing techniques.
  • Excellent knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and fitting principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in all tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform a wide range of alterations and repairs.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • A portfolio showcasing previous work (preferred but not mandatory for initial application).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational qualification or degree in fashion design, garment technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with bespoke tailoring or custom garment creation.
  • Knowledge of pattern making and grading.
  • Familiarity with luxury fabrics and delicate materials.
  • Previous experience working in a client-facing role within a high-end atelier or alterations service.
