Hiring.zycto is searching for an experienced and highly motivated Trademark Agent to join our thriving Intellectual Property (IP) practice in Signal Hill, Calgary. Key Responsibilities
- Manage a comprehensive portfolio of Canadian and international trademark applications, including conducting searches, preparing and prosecuting applications, and responding to office actions.
- Provide strategic advice to clients on trademark availability, registrability, enforcement, and portfolio management.
- Conduct trademark clearance searches, analyze search results, and provide opinions on registrability and potential infringement risks.
- Prepare and file various trademark documents, including assignments, licenses, renewals, and oppositions/cancellations.
- Liaise with clients, foreign associates, and intellectual property offices worldwide.
- Monitor trademark watch notices and advise clients on potential infringements.
- Assist with intellectual property due diligence in corporate transactions.
- Contribute to client education and business development initiatives related to trademark protection.
- Stay abreast of developments in trademark law and practice, both domestically and internationally.
Required Skills
- Registered Trademark Agent in Canada.
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Trademark Agent.
- Extensive knowledge of the Canadian Trademarks Act and Regulations.
- Proven experience with trademark prosecution, clearance, and enforcement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with IP management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with U.S. and international trademark systems (Madrid Protocol).
- Familiarity with copyright law and other aspects of intellectual property.
- Bachelor's degree or legal background (e.g., Paralegal diploma).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
