Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective volunteer recruitment strategies tailored to various community needs.
  • Conduct comprehensive orientations, training sessions, and ongoing development for new and existing volunteers.
  • Match volunteers with appropriate roles and assignments based on their skills, interests, and program requirements.
  • Manage volunteer schedules, records, and communication efficiently using dedicated management systems.
  • Develop and execute creative volunteer recognition and appreciation programs to foster retention and morale.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all volunteer inquiries, providing support and guidance.
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments and program managers to identify and fulfill volunteer needs for various initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, and safety guidelines for all volunteer activities.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of volunteer programs, making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Organize and attend community outreach events to promote volunteer opportunities and raise awareness of our mission.

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proven ability to recruit, motivate, and retain volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with volunteer management software or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to challenges.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Non-profit Management, Human Resources, Social Work, Communications, or a related field.
  • Certification in Volunteer Management (e.g., CVA – Certified in Volunteer Administration).
  • Familiarity with the Waltham and broader Massachusetts community landscape.
  • Previous experience working in a non-profit or community-based organization.
  • Experience in event planning and coordination, particularly for volunteer engagement.
