Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Certified Lifeguard to join our dynamic team in Metrotown, Burnaby. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual passionate about water safety, public well-being, and community engagement. As a Lifeguard, you will be the cornerstone of our aquatic safety operations, responsible for maintaining a secure and enjoyable environment for all swimmers and facility users. Your primary goal will be to prevent accidents and respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies. This role requires constant vigilance, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to safety management.

Our state-of-the-art facilities cater to a diverse range of patrons, from casual swimmers to competitive athletes, and include various aquatic features. You will be expected to enforce facility rules with a professional and friendly demeanor, provide basic first aid when necessary, and assist with general facility upkeep to ensure cleanliness and operational readiness. We are looking for someone who can work collaboratively with fellow lifeguards and facility staff, contributing to a positive and respectful workplace culture. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor patrons in and around aquatic facilities to prevent accidents and ensure safety.
  • Enforce all pool rules and regulations consistently and fairly.
  • Perform rescues, administer first aid, and respond to emergencies as required, including CPR and AED usage.
  • Conduct regular safety checks of the pool area, equipment, and water conditions.
  • Complete incident reports accurately and promptly.
  • Assist with facility maintenance duties, including cleaning and organizing the deck, locker rooms, and equipment.
  • Attend regular in-service training sessions and maintain all required certifications.
  • Provide excellent customer service and answer patron inquiries regarding facility use and safety.
  • Communicate effectively with other lifeguards, supervisors, and facility staff.

Required Skills

  • Current National Lifeguard (NL) certification (Pool option).
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C/AED certification.
  • Proven ability to maintain constant vigilance and react quickly in emergency situations.
  • Strong swimming proficiency and rescue skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous lifeguarding experience in a public aquatic facility.
  • Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification or equivalent.
  • Aquatic Emergency Care (AEC) certification.
  • Experience with diverse age groups and varying swimming abilities.
  • Multilingual abilities (e.g., Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi).
