Job Description

Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for a highly skilled and results-oriented Fleet Manager to oversee and optimize our entire vehicle fleet operations. This critical role demands a leader with a profound understanding of logistics, vehicle maintenance, safety regulations, and cost management. As our Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective operation of our diverse fleet, supporting our core business objectives across Springfield, Massachusetts, and beyond. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing strategies for vehicle acquisition, maintenance, disposal, and fuel efficiency, while also managing a team of drivers and maintenance staff. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire fleet lifecycle, including procurement, maintenance scheduling, repairs, and eventual disposal of vehicles.
  • Develop and implement robust preventative maintenance programs to maximize vehicle uptime and extend asset life.
  • Monitor and analyze fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and operational data to identify areas for efficiency improvements and cost reduction.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and environmental standards.
  • Oversee driver management, including scheduling, performance monitoring, training coordination, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Negotiate with vendors, suppliers, and service providers to secure favorable terms for vehicle purchases, parts, and maintenance services.
  • Implement and manage fleet tracking systems and other relevant technologies to optimize routes, enhance safety, and improve operational visibility.
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections and audits to ensure fleet integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and manage the departmental budget, forecasting expenses and tracking actual costs.
  • Lead and mentor a team of maintenance technicians and administrative staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in fleet management, preferably with a diverse fleet size of 50+ vehicles.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair procedures, and automotive systems.
  • In-depth understanding of DOT regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software and GPS tracking systems.
  • Exceptional leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Budgeting and cost control expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certified Fleet Management Professional (CFMP) or similar certification.
  • Experience with alternative fuel vehicles and sustainable fleet practices.
  • Familiarity with telematics and advanced fleet optimization technologies.
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification.
