Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly dedicated and vigilant Campus Security Officer to join our client’s team for the night shift in the vibrant Linden Hills area of Minneapolis. This critical role ensures the safety and security of students, staff, visitors, and property throughout the campus during overnight hours. As a Campus Security Officer, you will be the eyes and ears of the institution, preventing unauthorized access, responding to incidents, and maintaining a secure environment. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols of campus grounds, buildings, and parking lots during the night shift to deter crime and identify potential security risks.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly to any suspicious activities or emergencies.
- Enforce campus policies, rules, and regulations, ensuring compliance by students, staff, and visitors.
- Provide assistance to students, faculty, and staff as needed, including escort services, lockout assistance, and directions.
- Respond to and investigate disturbances, emergencies, and alarms, documenting incidents thoroughly and accurately.
- Prepare detailed incident reports, daily activity logs, and other required documentation.
- Control access to campus facilities, verifying credentials and ensuring only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
- Perform first aid or CPR if trained and required, until professional medical help arrives.
- Identify and report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and environmental concerns.
- Ensure proper opening and closing procedures for campus buildings and facilities.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 18 months of security experience, preferably in a campus or institutional setting.
- Valid Minnesota Security Guard License or ability to obtain one upon hire.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to operate surveillance equipment and basic computer systems.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to de-escalate conflicts and handle sensitive situations professionally.
- Physical ability to walk/stand for extended periods and respond quickly to emergencies.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
- Experience with incident reporting software.
- Prior experience working night shifts.
- Familiarity with campus security protocols and procedures.
