Job Description

Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for a highly motivated and experienced Air Freight Agent to join our dedicated team in Wetherby, Leeds. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in coordinating the seamless movement of goods via air freight, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions for our diverse client base. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with airlines, customs brokers, and clients. You will manage the entire lifecycle of air freight shipments, from initial booking and documentation to tracking and delivery, ensuring compliance with all international regulations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of air freight shipments from booking to delivery, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
  • Prepare, process, and manage all necessary documentation, including air waybills, customs declarations, and freight manifests.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, airlines, customs officials, and overseas agents to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues.
  • Track and trace shipments, providing regular updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Negotiate rates with airlines and service providers to secure the most competitive and efficient routes.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all international air freight regulations, customs procedures, and company policies.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and provide proactive solutions to maintain high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for service improvement and cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless end-to-end supply chain solutions.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an Air Freight Agent or similar role within the logistics industry.
  • Profound knowledge of international air freight regulations, customs procedures, and Incoterms.
  • Demonstrable experience with freight forwarding software and relevant IT systems.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IATA Dangerous Goods certification.
  • Experience with specific freight management software (e.g., CargoWise One, Magaya).
  • Multilingual capabilities, particularly in European or Asian languages.
  • A relevant degree or professional qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or International Trade.
