Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Linux Administrator to join our distributed team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere while maintaining a strong connection with our collaborative team. As a Linux Administrator, you will be a critical part of our infrastructure team, responsible for the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our Linux-based systems and servers. Your work will directly support our mission to provide reliable, secure, and high-performing services to our clients globally. We are looking for someone passionate about open-source technologies, automation, and continuous improvement.

In this role, you will manage a diverse environment, including virtualized servers, container platforms, and cloud infrastructure. You will be instrumental in ensuring system uptime, performance, and security through proactive monitoring, regular updates, and incident response. Beyond day-to-day operations, you will also play a key role in designing and implementing new solutions, optimizing existing systems, and contributing to infrastructure-as-code initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) on physical and virtual servers.
  • Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal operation.
  • Manage and maintain server hardware, software, security patches, and upgrades.
  • Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies.
  • Monitor system logs, audit trails, and security events for anomalies.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Administer network services such as DNS, DHCP, SSH, HTTP/S, SMTP.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to deploy and manage applications.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for critical system support.
  • Document system configurations, processes, and procedures.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience as a Linux Administrator or similar role.
  • Proficiency in Linux operating systems (RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian).
  • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls).
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCSA, LPIC).
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with database administration (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Familiarity with security best practices and compliance standards.
