Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee, tea, and other beverages with speed, consistency, and artistic presentation.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other brewing equipment to optimal standards.
- Ensure excellent customer service, taking orders accurately, handling special requests, and engaging with customers in a friendly, professional manner.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately using a Point of Sale (POS) system and manage daily till reconciliation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar, seating areas, back-of-house, and restrooms throughout shifts.
- Monitor and replenish inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, and other supplies, communicating needs to management.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards, and maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including setup, breakdown, and cleaning procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations, efficient service, and a positive work environment.
- Contribute to a positive and welcoming atmosphere, proactively resolving customer concerns or complaints professionally and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista, preferably with at least 6 months in a fast-paced cafe or coffee shop environment.
- Excellent knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, espresso extraction, and basic latte art.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer interaction.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain composure under pressure.
- Proficiency in basic math for accurate cash handling and transaction processing.
- A genuine passion for coffee culture, quality beverages, and delivering outstanding customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification in food hygiene (e.g., Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering).
- Experience with specialty coffee beans and alternative brewing methods (e.g., pour-over, Aeropress).
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Basic knowledge of different coffee bean origins, roast profiles, and their flavor characteristics.
