Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise catering staff during events, ensuring efficient workflow and exceptional service delivery.
  • Oversee all event logistics, including setup, service, and breakdown, adhering to strict timelines and client specifications.
  • Conduct pre-event briefings and post-event debriefs with staff to ensure clarity and gather feedback.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory of catering supplies and equipment, coordinating with the kitchen team for food preparation and delivery.
  • Liaise directly with clients to understand their needs, address concerns, and ensure their satisfaction.
  • Provide ongoing training and mentorship to catering staff, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as staff scheduling, time tracking, and incident reporting.
  • Resolve any operational issues or customer complaints promptly and effectively.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience in a supervisory role within the catering or food service industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent team management and motivational skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with clients and staff.
  • Thorough understanding of food safety, hygiene, and relevant health regulations (e.g., FoodSafe Level 1 & 2).
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary arts diploma or degree in Hospitality Management.
  • Experience with diverse catering styles (e.g., buffet, plated, cocktail receptions).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of inventory management software.
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
