Key Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in all provided training programs to achieve required certifications and develop expertise.
  • Conduct search and rescue (SAR) operations, including operating vessels and specialized equipment in diverse conditions.
  • Enforce maritime laws and regulations to ensure compliance, safety, and security on Canadian waters.
  • Respond to environmental incidents, mitigate pollution risks, and protect marine ecosystems.
  • Engage in maritime security operations, surveillance activities, and support national defense initiatives.
  • Operate and maintain various types of marine equipment, navigation systems, and communication devices.
  • Assist in icebreaking operations, maintain marine navigation aids, and contribute to safe passage for vessels.
  • Provide first aid and emergency medical assistance to individuals in distress during operations.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, other government agencies, and international partners.
  • Maintain accurate logs, detailed reports, and operational records as per standard procedures.

Required Skills

  • Strong commitment to public service, safety, and the protection of Canadian interests.
  • Excellent physical fitness and ability to successfully pass rigorous physical assessments.
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a demanding team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decisive decision-making skills under high-pressure situations.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, often in remote locations.
  • Valid provincial driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency status.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in any field, demonstrating a commitment to learning.
  • Experience in leadership roles, team-based activities, or volunteer work.
  • Prior experience with boats, marine environments, or extensive outdoor activities.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (comprehensive training will be provided regardless).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective reporting and interaction.
