Job Description
Hiring.zycto is looking for an experienced and dedicated Driller to join our dynamic construction team in the Runnymede-Bloor West Village area of Toronto. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain various drilling rigs, including rotary, percussion, and auger rigs, for foundation, geotechnical, and utility projects.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, geological reports, and project specifications to determine drilling locations and methods.
- Perform pre-operation inspections, routine maintenance, and minor repairs on drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Set up and dismantle drilling sites, including securing the area, positioning the rig, and managing drilling fluids and materials.
- Monitor drilling progress, depths, and conditions, adjusting drilling parameters as necessary to achieve desired results.
- Collect and log soil and rock samples, ensuring proper labeling and handling for laboratory analysis.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, industry regulations, and environmental protection guidelines.
- Maintain accurate daily drilling logs, including footage, materials used, site conditions, and any operational issues.
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, engineers, and other team members regarding project status and potential challenges.
- Assist with other site duties as required, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of construction operations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience as a Driller in construction or geotechnical drilling.
- Proven ability to operate and maintain various drilling rigs and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong understanding of drilling techniques, ground conditions, and associated risks.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, site plans, and geological data.
- Valid Class G driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices in construction.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding work in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Working at Heights, WHMIS, First Aid/CPR).
- Experience with specialized drilling techniques such as caisson, micro-piling, or deep foundation work.
- Heavy Equipment Operator certification or relevant trade qualification.
- Familiarity with GPS and other surveying equipment for precise rig positioning.
- Ability to lead and mentor junior team members.
