Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Seasonal Forestry Worker based in the vibrant and historic Corktown area of Toronto. Key Responsibilities
- Perform strenuous manual labour tasks including planting trees and shrubs, pruning branches, watering new growth, and effectively clearing brush and invasive species.
- Assist with tree felling, limbing, bucking, and chipping operations, strictly adhering to safety guidelines under direct supervision.
- Operate and meticulously maintain hand tools (e.g., loppers, saws) and power equipment such as chainsaws, brush cutters, and chippers safely and efficiently.
- Conduct thorough site preparation, which includes debris removal, mulching, and soil amendment, to optimize conditions for healthy vegetation growth.
- Participate actively in erosion control measures, trail maintenance, and various other crucial land restoration and conservation activities.
- Monitor and accurately report on tree health, identifying signs of pest infestations, diseases, and potential hazards to urban canopy.
- Ensure all work is consistently performed in full compliance with stringent safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with team members to achieve project goals, maintain high standards, and foster a positive, supportive work environment.
- Safely transport equipment, tools, and materials to various work sites across the Corktown area and surrounding regions, as required.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform strenuous physical labour outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
- Basic foundational knowledge of tree identification and fundamental forestry practices.
- Demonstrated experience using various hand tools and a strong willingness to learn to safely operate power equipment.
- Strong and unwavering commitment to safety procedures and strict adherence to protocols.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a cohesive team.
- Reliable transportation to and from the designated work site daily.
- Legal eligibility and authorization to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous practical experience (minimum 6 months) in forestry, landscaping, conservation, or a directly related outdoor labour field.
- Valid Class G driver's license with an impeccable driving record.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Familiarity with local flora and fauna specific to the Toronto region and surrounding ecosystems.
- Enrollment in or successful completion of a program in Forestry, Environmental Science, Horticulture, or a closely related field.
