Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, age-appropriate kindergarten curriculum that aligns with provincial standards and promotes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages active learning, exploration, and creative expression.
  • Assess student progress regularly using various methods (observation, portfolios, assessments) and communicate findings effectively to parents and guardians.
  • Plan and execute engaging daily activities, lessons, and play-based learning experiences tailored to the diverse needs and interests of students.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, progress, and behavioral observations.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, support staff, and administration to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly and proactively with parents regarding student progress, classroom activities, and any concerns or achievements.
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies to foster a respectful and cooperative classroom atmosphere.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all students at all times, adhering to all school policies and procedures.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and school-wide initiatives to continuously enhance teaching practices and contribute to the school community.

Required Skills

  • Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for certification)
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and kindergarten-specific pedagogy
  • Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing engaging, play-based learning activities
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with young children

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education degree with a specialization in Early Childhood Education
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive education practices
  • Familiarity with current educational technology for early learners
  • First Aid and CPR certification
