Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Labour Relations Officer to join our dynamic team in Walkerville, Windsor. This pivotal full-time role will be instrumental in fostering positive and productive relationships between management and employees, ensuring compliance with all relevant labour laws, collective agreements, and company policies. The successful candidate will act as a key advisor, negotiator, and mediator, contributing significantly to a harmonious and efficient workplace environment.

As a Labour Relations Officer, you will be at the forefront of interpreting and applying collective agreements, providing expert guidance on a wide array of labour relations issues, and actively participating in grievance resolution processes. Your expertise will be crucial in developing and delivering training programs for managers and employees on labour relations best practices, conflict resolution, and the understanding of rights and responsibilities. This role demands a proactive individual with a deep understanding of Canadian labour legislation, a proven track record in negotiations, and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret, administer, and advise on collective agreements and relevant labour legislation.
  • Manage and resolve grievances, including representing the company in conciliation and arbitration proceedings.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to management and employees on labour relations matters, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in collective bargaining negotiations, preparing proposals and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on labour relations topics, conflict resolution, and dispute management.
  • Conduct research and analysis on labour trends, legislative changes, and their potential impact on the organization.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential labour relations records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and legal departments on labour-related issues and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist in developing and implementing fair and equitable HR policies and practices.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in labour relations, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian labour law, including the Ontario Labour Relations Act.
  • Demonstrated experience in grievance handling, mediation, and arbitration.
  • Proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Industrial Relations or Law (LLB/JD).
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP/CHRL) designation.
  • Experience with policy development and implementation.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
