Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Masonry Contractor Apprentice to join our growing construction team in Stoney Creek, Hamilton. In this apprentice role, you will work closely with experienced masons, learning everything from site preparation and material handling to bricklaying, stonework, and various mortar applications. You will be exposed to different types of construction projects, gaining invaluable hands-on experience that cannot be learned in a classroom alone. Safety is paramount on all our sites, and you will receive thorough training on proper tool usage, equipment operation, and adherence to all health and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled masons with various tasks including mixing mortar, cutting bricks/stone, and setting up scaffolding.
- Handle and transport construction materials such as bricks, blocks, stone, and aggregates.
- Learn and apply proper techniques for bricklaying, stonework, and other masonry applications under supervision.
- Maintain a clean and organized work site, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored safely.
- Follow all company safety protocols and construction site regulations rigorously.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently as directed by experienced tradespeople.
- Measure, cut, and shape materials according to project specifications.
- Contribute positively to a team-oriented work environment.
- Attend and actively participate in all scheduled training sessions and mentorship programs.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced tradespeople.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety (or willingness to learn immediately).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outdoor environment in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a construction labourer role (even if minimal).
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Completion of a pre-apprenticeship program in construction or masonry.
- Valid Working at Heights and WHMIS certifications.
