Key Responsibilities
- Greet and escort patients to examination rooms, ensuring a welcoming and comforting environment.
- Perform preliminary patient work-ups, including taking patient history and documenting chief complaints.
- Conduct basic diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, intraocular pressure measurements (tonometry), and auto-refraction, under supervision.
- Prepare and sterilize examination rooms and ophthalmic instruments before and after each patient visit.
- Assist ophthalmologists during patient examinations and minor in-office procedures.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, ensuring all documentation is complete and up-to-date.
- Educate patients on basic eye care, medication instructions, and follow-up appointments as directed by the ophthalmologist.
- Manage patient flow efficiently to optimize clinic schedules.
- Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and managing patient inquiries.
- Order and maintain clinic supplies, ensuring all necessary equipment is available.
- Adhere strictly to all clinic policies, safety regulations, and patient confidentiality (HIPAA/PHIPA) guidelines.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
