Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented PCB Designer to join our innovative engineering team in Federal Hill, Baltimore. In this critical full-time role, you will be instrumental in transforming complex electronic schematics into manufacturable Printed Circuit Board layouts, contributing to the development of cutting-edge products that define our industry. We are looking for a professional who possesses a deep understanding of PCB design principles, signal integrity, power distribution, DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFT (Design for Test), and DFC (Design for Cost).

As a PCB Designer, you will collaborate closely with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and manufacturing teams throughout the product development lifecycle. Your expertise will directly impact the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of our products. You will be responsible for creating robust layouts for multi-layer boards, high-speed designs, mixed-signal applications, and compact form factors, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal design guidelines. Key Responsibilities

  • Translate electrical schematics into multi-layer PCB layouts using industry-standard CAD tools.
  • Perform component placement and routing, considering signal integrity, EMI/EMC, thermal management, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to optimize designs for performance, testability, and cost.
  • Generate comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including Gerber files, drill files, assembly drawings, and fab drawings.
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure adherence to design specifications, industry standards, and internal guidelines.
  • Manage and maintain component libraries, ensuring accuracy and availability of footprints and symbols.
  • Support PCB fabrication and assembly processes, addressing any design-related issues that arise.
  • Research and evaluate new PCB design technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of design processes and tools.
  • Develop and maintain clear documentation for design files and revisions.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or equivalent PCB CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of PCB layout principles for high-speed, multi-layer, and mixed-signal boards.
  • Knowledge of DFM, DFT, and DFC guidelines.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-2222, IPC-7351).
  • Experience with signal integrity and power integrity analysis.
  • Ability to interpret complex schematics and translate them into physical layouts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with rigid-flex and flex PCB designs.
  • Knowledge of various communication protocols (e.g., USB, Ethernet, PCIe, DDR).
  • Familiarity with thermal analysis and mitigation techniques for PCBs.
  • Experience with scripting for design automation (e.g., Python, SKILL).
