Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for an exceptional and dynamic Weather Presenter to join our dedicated team in Auburn Bay, Calgary. As our Weather Presenter, you will be a vital face of our news team, responsible for preparing, producing, and delivering daily weather segments. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver accurate, engaging, and timely weather forecasts for multiple broadcast platforms.
  • Analyze complex meteorological data, including radar, satellite imagery, computer models, and local observations.
  • Develop clear and compelling weather graphics and visual aids for on-air segments.
  • Report live from the studio and, on occasion, from various field locations during significant weather events.
  • Communicate severe weather warnings and advisories effectively and responsibly.
  • Engage with viewers through social media, community events, and station promotions.
  • Collaborate closely with the news production team to integrate weather segments seamlessly into broadcasts.
  • Continuously monitor weather conditions and update forecasts as new information becomes available.
  • Contribute to weather-related special projects, features, and digital content.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of meteorology and atmospheric science.
  • Excellent on-air presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and clearly explain complex scientific data.
  • Proficiency with weather graphics systems (e.g., WSI TruWeather, AccuWeather StoryTeller).
  • Exceptional storytelling and ad-lib capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under live broadcast pressure.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a broadcast meteorologist or weather presenter in a media market.
  • Knowledge of Calgary and Alberta specific weather patterns and geography.
  • Experience with social media for professional engagement and content dissemination.
  • Ability to operate studio equipment (e.g., teleprompter, chroma key).
